## Record the water path

Note the property address and the use the wet area prevents. Draw the house, paved areas, downspouts and the part of the lawn that stays wet. Mark where water first appears and where it goes next. Use a dotted line for a buried route you suspect and a solid line only where the route is known. Add the approximate time between rainfall and the disappearance of visible water.

## Take two views

From a safe position, photograph the surrounding property during the event. Repeat the view after rain stops. A second view showing the receiving area can explain whether the proposed destination is already saturated, eroding or close to a shared route. Record any irrigation schedule or dry-weather wetness separately.

## Bring the constraints

List narrow gates, trees, paving, private irrigation and other known buried services. Add any survey, easement or maintenance information relevant to the outlet. A property sketch is not a utility locate or a substitute for levels measured at the proposed route.

## Compare estimates in the same order

For each proposal, record the collection method, the route used to carry water, the outlet and who can authorize it. Then compare access, soil removal, hardscape and lawn restoration, exclusions, allowances and future cleaning access. If a line is blank, ask about it before comparing the total.
